I am making the ethical move because selling shouldn’t be pushy, sleazy or manipulative. I’m sick of being pushed by limited time offers, and misleading marketing. I made from the heart and want to sell the same way. Be part of the change

I am making the ethical move because our consumer culture is harming the planet and its inhabitants. I want to be part of the solution. Not the problem. And I believe that transparency, responsibility and honesty are key to changing the world.

I have moved to a more ethical approach because I am tired of seeing business owners sold something that they don’t need, or being sold a service that is not going to solve their problem. So many stories of business owners being taken advantage of when they don’t understand all the elements they need to do.

A few months ago, I made the biggest financial investment I’d ever made in my own professional development. I was left bedazzled by the generous promises of guaranteed success, and thrilled to have found support that matched my values. But… It didn’t turn out as expected. Although they were nice people, I realise now that they didn’t make the effort to delve into their methods and expertise in detail to check if they were actually a good fit for me. There was also a degree of pressure to engage in practices that I deemed unethical in order to gain personal success. I’ve learnt a lot and hope they have to. I’m committed to making sure my future clients are authentically heard, understood and accommodated for. And, if somebody else is a better fit for them, I’d be excited to pass on the recommendation.

I’m fed up of having to 2nd and 3rd guess what is right and what is true – marketing, sales and social media (including politics) should be honest and responsible. Stop selling an ideal and be authentic and helpful.

Jane Suter | Red Tiger Consultancy Ltd

November 9, 2022

Red Tiger Consultancy delivers workplace coach training. I am taking this pledge because I am fed up with the tactics used by organisations to sell their product such as charm pricing, price priming, emotional manipulation etc. It is important to Red Tiger to be truthful, inclusive and respectful to our potential clients. Importantly we will only sell a person a course if it meets their needs.

I’m making the pledge to shift my marketing ethically because we all deserve transparency. Relationships grow stronger and deeper with honesty. And the connection between two forthright people is beautiful and inspiring.

In my experience as a marketer, I am frustrated by traditional, manipulative marketing tactics. I want to do better for people and the planet through my skills and work in social media marketing.

I am making the pledge because I don’t believe in unethical sales practices, I make personalised products for people (often people with children or babies) and I want everyone to feel empowered to purchase ethically and for me to always use ethical marketing.

I’m taking this pledge because I’m tired of lies on the internet and the capitalistic pressure.
