I am making the ethical move because, as a new copywriter, I have been really troubled with many of the marketing techniques that I have been told are ‘best practice’. I have desperately wanted to believe there is a better way, and I’ve found it here with The Ethical Move. This resonates so deeply with me and I want to be part of the change through the copy I write, and the way I conduct my business.

I’m making the ethical pledge because the rampant pressure and deception used in the marketing world is based greed. In the face of the climate crisis we have been experiencing, the greenwashing, purpose washing etc. is increasing and happening now more than ever. “What we take, how and what we make, what we waste, is in fact a question of ethics.” ― Yvon Chouinard, Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman

Unwrapped Evolutions is taking the Ethical Move pledge because one of our values is Cultivating radical honesty. I believe in being radically honest and letting it guide my interactions with others. I honor my agency and yours and will never lie to cheat myself or others out of a situation. I will never be less honest to please others.

I pledge to offer affordable and accessible services to the masses since the coaching industry has been dominant-culture and white-male-centric and “expensive” since its inception.

Nicky Runeckles | Parenting Matters

July 18, 2026

I’m tired of being sold to and not understanding the whole truth about what I’m buying. Parents are being bombarded with information on parenting from all directions that isn’t based on evidence and so confuses parents and can feel overwhelming and contradictory.

I am making the ethical move because I don’t want to be part of methods that create more fear, and disconnect people from their inner knowing. I want to create substance, authentic content, and real personal connections that empower us to be ourselves and bring our gifts into the world. I want people to make a free choice to co-create with me because they feel the connection.

The mission for ethical transparent, responsible and honest marketing is something I really align with and I want to pledge my business to operate ethically. It’s been a shock to me since starting my business 4+ years ago how frequently I’ve met individuals, companies and even charities who I can see are being talked down to through complicated jargon, lied to and overcharged thousands by other agencies. It doesn’t sit well with me and to me gives the whole industry a bad name. It’s become a pattern I see so often that I firmly believe there needs to be change. I’ve been at networking events, been told by other business owners to increase prices, charge unnecessary fees and essentially take advantage of clients who don’t know better and I find it upsetting that this is the standard for many agencies. I’d love to be part of a movement to help steer this change.

We feel that the funeral service is an area where moral and ethical responsibility should be paramount. There are so many areas that require transparency, especially around pricing and options. We pledge to be ethical in all of our practice and ways of working.

Emily Stout | Shine Coaching & Consulting

July 18, 2026

Shine C&C is taking the Ethical Move pledge because authenticity, transparent communication, and integrity are lacking in business. I want to be part of the solution. I believe in creating true connection and brand loyalty, not by tricking people into buying clients’ products or services through a confusing sales funnel. I despise the “hard sell.” I get emails all the time from people who reach out to offer their products or services for my business. Their first email is friendly. When their emails receive no response, it often leads to a condescending note that implies I’m not serious about my business and that when I’m ready to focus on my business, give them a call. Gross! I have always believed that marketing is not selling… marketing is connecting. It is creating an authentic connection with a person or organization that you can empower to achieve their goals through your knowledge and experience. Authenticity and connection are everything to me!

For the past year I have been looking into the digital marketplace and felt like none of the practices I was exposed to are good enough for humanity or the Earth. Gotta start Somewhere. May need a community for support as I learn.
