the ethical move

Pledgees.

Heather Grant | Wild Heather Wellness

I am making the ethical move pledge as a yoga teacher and forest therapy practitioner, as the welness industry is so full of misleading and unethical marketing in order to convince people there's something wrong with them that needs fixing. I want to make it clear I will never do that, by marketing my services in the most ethical way possible.

I’m taking this pledge because I believe in non-dominant branding and marketing that respects people’s agency.

We’re taking this pledge because we believe in non-dominant branding and that marketing should feel like a conversation, not a trap. At Recess Labs, we center trust, consent, and community in everything we build. Our branding and marketing work with impact-driven teams aims to show you don’t need to dominate a market to make a difference.

I believe in serving people more than money.

June 6, 2025

At Manor Resources, we believe that how we promote our services is just as important as the services themselves. As a small, brand-led HR consultancy, we’re committed to marketing that is honest, respectful, and rooted in trust. There is enough work and business to go around without falsehoods being made. We're confident to stand behind the true results that we have achieved for our clients.

I pledge to The Ethical Move because I believe business can be a force for clarity, integrity, and respect. I refuse to use fear, shame, or manipulation to drive action. I choose transparency over pressure, consent over coercion, and honesty over hype. This isn’t just about marketing—it’s about modeling the world I want to live in: one where people feel safe, seen, and empowered to choose freely.

I want my work to build trust, not manipulate emotions. I’m taking the pledge because people deserve honesty, not pressure, in their buying decisions. Ethical marketing is the only way forward.

As a business coach I’m fed up with the manipulative marketing techniques and false promises in the industry.

I am tired of finding out AFTER I've bought something that I have been supporting a company that deforests, treats people or animals poorly, or screws over the smaller "guy" simply to make MORE money. I learned earlier in 2025 that razor companies realised in 1920s that they could sell to women more easily than they could men by manipulating them into believing that being hairless was sexier. 100 years on, women are still shaving, waxing and de-hairing… much to the detriment of their health. I created a business that I am proud of. I ask my suppliers where they buy from and whether they have investigated their supply chain, so why cant bigger firms do this? Why cant I buy responsibly? I stand with this pledge, wholeheartedly.

I am taking the pledge because I am sick and tired off the short sighted cosumarism in our world. People do not give a fuck about other people, animals and nature. All being flouded by tech, and AI. Tupac said in 1992: Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Crush, Crush, Crush. There is no way these people have planes, when there are people without houses.
