I am taking the pledge because I want to contribute to the world where we operate with integrity and community first, where labor exploitation is a thing of the past and each individual can thrive and contribute to society in their unique way without.

I believe a regenerated earth begins with regenerating ourselves. This includes creating ways of selling and doing business that are good for all parties: the buyer, the seller, and the planet. No manipulation, but honest win-win-win situations.

Therapy in Barcelona’s Ethical Marketing Pledge At Therapy in Barcelona, we understand the profound impact of mental health services on individuals, especially those navigating the complexities of living abroad. We are committed to ethical marketing practices that respect the dignity and needs of our clients. We are committed to upholding these values in all our marketing and communication efforts. Prioritising Compassion Over Commerce: Our primary focus is the mental well-being of our clients, not profit. Every marketing decision is made with the utmost consideration for the potential impact on those seeking therapy. We see marketing as a social service rather than a quick sale opportunity. We aim to make clients feel less alone and prioritise breaking the stigma around mental health help-seeking over and above driving sales for our specific therapy practice. Respecting Privacy and Autonomy: We acknowledge the sensitive nature of mental health and vow to protect our clients’ privacy. Our communication will always empower clients to make informed decisions aligning with their needs and values. Inclusive and Transparent Communication: We strive to create a welcoming and safe space for everyone. Our messaging will be transparent, honest, and devoid of any misleading information. We ensure our communication is accessible and respectful to people of all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+, BiPOC, cultural, language and ethnic groups and neurodiverse communities. Commitment to Ethical Practices: We continually review and improve our marketing strategies to align with ethical standards. This includes avoiding tactics contributing to unhealthy consumer behaviours or unrealistic expectations about therapy. Openness to Feedback: We welcome and encourage feedback from our community. Their insights are invaluable in helping us maintain our commitment to ethical marketing and service excellence. Educational Outreach: Besides marketing our services, we commit to providing educational content that raises awareness about mental health, especially the unique challenges expats and internationals face. Promotion of Therapeutic Alignment: Recognizing that each client’s needs are unique, we emphasize the importance of matching clients with therapists best suited to their specific concerns rather than promoting a one-size-fits-all approach. We always prioritise client care, such that we are committed to providing the next step to every client who reaches out to our service, even if that step is to another service in our community if it is more appropriate.

I am making the ethical move because I do not like that so many gyms and trainers have taken advantage of people’s most vulnerable insecurities.

Power to the people. The current role of how businesses operate in our society is destroying our planet as well as our people. We as individuals have the power to create real change. If more people pledge we have the opportunity to create a future free of unfairness and greed which values people and their skills fairly.

Like many first-time business owners, I fell for all the marketing “tricks” that the conventional world teaches. Certain practices never felt right to me, but I figured that I had to play by the rules in order to become successful. It all felt icky to me, and it held me back from promoting my own work. Once I realized that I can do marketing in business in my way, in a way that feels ethical to me and aligns with my own values, everything changed. I realized I didn’t have to play someone else’s game—I could create my own. You attract the community and network that share the values you put out. I value transparency, creativity, and fun, and now I work with people who feel the same.

Doing right by the people I support, and those I’m reaching out to, and in doing so aligning with my values of integrity, humility and authentic contribution. Relationships develop with honesty and trust, and I’m doing this from the outset by being transparent and respectful of others.
