I am pledging the Ethical Move because it rings as necessary that we start treating others the way we wish to be treated.

I’m taking the pledge because I believe in doing good work for people doing good. The world is feeling chaotic right now but there is power in community and this is one I’m proud to be part of :)

I’m taking the pledge because it is important for me to be part of the change. I resisted the idea of offering my gifts to the world for most of my life because of how frequently I saw others in similar types of work use and be convinced into using marketing tactics that made me deeply uncomfortable on the receiving end of. Due to this lack of positive role models, I hid for many years and even today have discomfort around requesting fair compensation for my time and energy.

I’m taking the pledge because I’ve based my business on values that are important to me: authenticity, transparency, education, collaboration, and mutual respect. Modern sales tactics seem to ignore how important these values are for all of us (whether we know it or not!) and the way we make larger change is one small step at a time. Here’s mine.

I’m taking the pledge because ethical marketing must centre on consent, clarity, and care — not manipulation or manufactured urgency. I believe businesses can grow in a way that respects people’s agency, honours their intelligence, and builds real trust rather than exploiting attention.

For nearly a decade, we held the idea to create a better website builder for artists, designers, and makers. One that’s straightforward to set up and use, without being too restrictive. We never felt the time was right, until now, with Big Tech exploiting creatives to sell more ads and shoving AI into every possible interface. We want to make a safe space where creative people can build and maintain their online presence while keeping full control and ownership over their work and data. A space that is naturally resistant against enshittification by staying independent, open sourcing the code, and making it super easy to self-host for those who want complete sovereignty. The internet is what we make it, and this is our contribution to making it a better place.

I am making The Ethical Move because traditional marketing and sales tactics have always given me the biggest ICK! I would much prefer to have helpful conversations with someone so they can choose the RIGHT path for them (even if it’s not working with me), than pressuring them to sign up with me. I’m here to share my knowledge and experience to empower and inspire others. I run a business, but not at the expense of my conscience and morals.

I’m taking the pledge because ethical marketing should be the norm, not the exception. Design and strategy have real power to influence people, and I want to use that power with honesty, transparency and care.
