Hello ethical movers!

We’ve been quietly at work all summer, building the foundations of the new Ethical Move. Find out what’s coming up, what’s worth reading, and how to get involved.

The ethical move news.

Ooooh there’s so much to share this month:

Adapt, translate, and share the Ethical Move Pledge

Maria published our pledge on GitHub under a Creative Commons license. From small grammatical or spelling changes to grammar to deeper terminology transformations: all association members can now suggest changes and submit translations.

Pledge individually. Pledge as a team.

In charge of marketing at your company? At the helm of the entire organisation? We’ve added a more obvious way for entire organisations to take our pledge. One less friction point if you want to embed ethical marketing + sales in your culture.

Save the dates: Open House meetings

Open House is our new quarterly meeting series and your place to connect, learn + discuss. As the name says, it’s open to everyone: members of The Ethical Move association, pledgees as well as curious minds.

Here’s the rough agenda:

  • In the first 10 minutes, we’ll explain what The Ethical Move is.
For example: What are we working on, and why should you care? How does the Pledge work? What are the benefits of membership?
We recommend dropping in on this part at least once.
After that, feel free to join a bit later.
  • Next, we’ll have a short (15 minute) talk or workshop about ethical marketing + sales.
Got an insight you want to share? Let us know and grab one of the upcoming slots (no sales pitches, please).
  • Finally, we’ll have 20 minutes or so for breakout discussions about the talk, workshop or anything else that’s on your mind.
It’s a great way to make new work friends, get a boost on a busy day and feel part of the larger community

Upcoming dates for your diary:

  • 28 August 2024, 5pm CEST
  • 27 November 2024, 5pm CET
  • 26 February 2025, 5pm CET

Pledgee highlights.

We feel that the funeral service is an area where moral and ethical responsibility should be paramount. There are so many areas that require transparency, especially around pricing and options. We pledge to be ethical in all of our practice and ways of working. (…) We want to tackle the issues around pricing in the funeral services and hidden costs that many funeral directors have.
